​Manuel Nunes 1910 Bergstrom

This cir 1910 Manuel Nunes style 2 soprano ukulele  with early cloud inlay was sold by "Bergstrom Music Co. Limited Honolulu T.H." This ukulele was made cir 1910 by famed luthier Manuel Nunes, Nunes came to Hawaii from Madeira on the Ravenscrag in August of 1879 along with Jose do Esprito Santos and Augusto Dias.  All three were cabinet makers but were contracted to work on the sugar plantations and after they fulfilled their contracts all three settled down in Honolulu and were instrumental in the introduction of a new instrument called the Ukulele. As can be seen in the photos this 110+ year old Hawaiian ukulele is in nice condition with beautiful  figured Hawaiian Koa.

Condition Report; I was told by the collector I purchased it from that the body had been refinished, if I was not told I may have not noticed it was done beautifully
